Suchleiste
A German term for "toolbar"
If you search for toolbars, at some point you'll come across the term suchleiste. This is a German word that translates roughly to "search carries out".
While not all tool bars are search bars, the majority of browser toolbars do in fact offer some form of search engine integration. So it's not unusual to see Germans referring to their toolbars using search terminology.
A better translation would actually be search bar. This is quite reasonable, because even in English toolbars are sometimes referred to by the terms "search bar" or "searchbar" due to their association with specific search engines. The terms "side bar" and "sidebar" are also used and you'll sometimes find these used in German text as well.
If you don't understand German, however, you're probably better off not searching for the term suchleiste when searching for toolbars, because chances are good that the pages you'll find will be written in German, not English!
